My Story
Paul was born on the 21st May 1960 at Traralgon Victoria.
In 1987 I met Fiona Francis SCHRODER in Biloela. Fiona was working as a Family Service Officer and I was Senior Constable at Biloela Station. Shortly after I moved to Ipswich and lived with Mum at the Rosewood Hotel. I married Fiona on the 14th day of July
1990 (Bastille Day).
Fiona's parents are Frank and Heather SCHRODER and they are now living in Noosaville, formerly from Yeppoon Qld, where Frank was the dean of engineering at the Rockhampton Institute of Technology now the University. Upon his retirement he was awarded a
honorary Doctorate of Engineering for a life devoted to teaching Engineering.
On the 10th day of December 1992, Fiona gave birth to our first son Joshua Paul Foley at the Wesley Private Hospital in Ipswich. Joshua is now attending school at the Kin Kora State Primary School in Gladstone, Grade 5.
Joshua excels at Chess and is playing tournaments all over the Central Queensland region. Joshua has been selected in the regional side to compete in Brisbane later this
year. He is hoping to make the State Side. Recently he played a tournament in Gladstone against 174 Secondary / Primary School Students. Joshua finished 14th and won a Gold Medal for the Kin Kora side. There was only one primary school student ahead of him at that competition. Joshua plays chess every Friday night and on the internet at my place.
Paul and Fiona's second child, Peta Josephine FOLEY was born at the Wesley Hospital in Ipswich on the 21st day of April 1993. Peta was diagnosed with a hole in her heart at two weeks and was readmitted to the Wesley a very sick little girl having picked up an airborne virus which attacked her lungs. Peta was placed in a humidicrib for the next four weeks living on a high concentration of oxygen.
Peta is now a fit and healthy little girl, who is still trying to catch up on the last four weeks. Peta loves push bike riding and playing girlie things with her friends who always visit. Peta also plays chess but does not have the ability to concentrate for long enough to finish a game. Peta can not sit still and is constantly doing something.
Paul and Fiona separated on the 7th August 1997 and still live apart. Paul remains
close by and sees the kids as often as possible.
Paul went to the St Peter's and Paul's School in East Doncaster where I completed my Primary Schooling. I moved to St. Joseph's Technical college Abbotsford and completed secondary school to Grade
10 (1976).
On the 25th January 1977 Paul became a Cadet at the Queensland Police Academy in Oxley. He completed three and a half years of training and was sworn into the Police Force (changed to Police Service in 1991) on the 27th June 1980. I served three month probation periods at Redcliffe and Caboolture Police Stations before transferring to Longreach in late January 1981. In 1983 I was
transferred to Jundah Police Station were I relieved for five months as Sergeant in Charge. I remained until October 1983, however the isolation got the best of me and I was given a compassionate transfer to Gympie. I served at Gympie for two years during which time I was seconded to Cherbourg. In 1985 I was
transferred to Biloela, where I met Fiona. In 1987 I was transferred to Ipswich and later in 1990 I commenced twelve months relieving at Harrisville before taking up the post as Officer in Charge of the Harrisville Station. In 1995 I was
transferred to a two man station at Calliope where I am still serving as a Senior Constable.
Paul (The Manager) Foley.
